students (18 boys & 17 girls) from 27 schools in 25 districts of Odisha
state are participating in the programme.
During
this two week programme students will undergo various classes on conservation
of bioresources, biodiversity, natural resource management and biotechnology.
Hands on training will be provided on vemicomposting, kitchen garden, Herbarium
preparation, value addition in rice and millets, vegetable cultivation, seed germination
testing, blood grouping etc.
Four day
field visits will be organized to NALCO, BILT, Jeypore College of Pharmacy,
Sericulture Research Station, KVK, RRTTS, Central cattle breeding farm, Coffee
board, spice board, CSWCRTI, cashew industries etc.
Students
will interact with tribal communities to document their traditional knowledge,
orient about their conservation efforts. They will be exposed to reserve
forests, agricultural fields and to rural environment. On 21st,
students will be observing the world earth day, where they will make an awareness
rally, cleaning of villages and will make a signature posters. Various
completions like easy, debate, quiz, posters and models related to nature will
be conducted.
The
programme is inaugurated by Shri Rabi Narayan Nanda, honorable minister of
Schools and Mass Education, Govt. of Odisha in presence of Sri S. V. Ramana, Director (I/C) and Sri Saujanendra
Swain, Principal Scientist of MSSRF, Jeypore centre. The programme was
coordinated by Mrs. Sushri Sangita Rout and Naresh Chandra Patra.
