80 CMAS Members Acquitted

Jeypore. July.27:  Eighty members of the Narayanapatna Chasi Mulia Adivasi Sangh (CMAS) accused of murder, looting and arson were acquitted by the Jeypore Fast Track Court on Wednesday. According to the prosecution more than 500 Chasi Mulia Adivasi Sangh followers under the leadership of  Sangh President Nachhika linga raided the Godiguda village under Narayanapatna block on the evening of 9 May 2009 and damaged the houses, terrorized the people later they killed a person identified as Nityananda Meleka. The villagers fled away from the village with fear. Krupa Melaka son of  Nityananda Melaka lodged a complaint at Narayanapatna police station. Police registered the case and arrested 80 persons and produced them before  the court. Fast Track Court Additional District Judge S.Prabhakar Rao dismissed the case after examining the witnesses due to lack of evidence. Advocates Dasarathi Patnaik, Khaleel Jhan, Arati Mahanty, Pintu Majhi defended the accused.
