Fishery officials fined by Consumer adalat.

Jeypore. August.1:  Malkangiri district fishery officials were fined by consumer court for the delay in sanctioning subsidy to farmers. Consumer adalat, Malkangiri directed them to pay compensation with subsidy to the farmers who has not yet received their benefits under FFDA scheme.
According to the information The Director & Dy.Director had collected Rs.500/- each from farmers of Padmagiri village, Malkangiri district for sanctioning an amount of Rs.15,000 to Rs.30,000 as subsidy for digging fishery tanks under FFDA scheme in the year 2005. On the basis of assurance by the fishery officials the farmers dug the fishery tanks on their own cost and approached the concern officials for assured money. But the officials did not pay them the assured money. After three years the farmers filed a case against fishery Director and Dy.Director in Consumer court Malkangiri in the year 2008. On 29th July the Consumer court delivered the verdict and directed the Director and Dy.Director to pay Rs.10,000 as compensation and Rs.15,000 as subsidy to each farmer.
