69th Mattili Police Firing Day - Freedom fighters remembered

Jeypore August 21: The Communist Party of India Koraput district, observed the 69th "Mattili police firing day" at Jeypore. Speaking on the occasion party district Secretary,  Mr Judhister Roulo called the youth to fulfill the dream of Shaheed Laxman Nayak.

He remembered the contribution of Laxman Nayak,  the great tribal leader of Mattili movement, who was hanged by the British government in Berhampur jail on 29 March 1943. He urged the youth to follow footsteps of Shaheed Laxman Nayak for the development of Adivasis and society. Several dignitaries and leaders paid floral tributes at the statue of Shaheed Laxman Nayak. Jeypore Tahasildar Mr Maheswar Nayak, Health Officer Dr. K.K.Sarkar and Journalist Krishna Chandra Sahu spoke on the occasion.
