Jeypore.Agust.5:  Bank business has been paralyzed in Jeypore due to bank employees day long strike in protest banking sector reforms on Friday. On call of the United Forum of Bank Unions ( AIBEA- AIBOC-NCBE-0 AIBOA- BEFI- INBEF- INBOC- NOBW- NOBO) all the bank employees and Officers observed strike on 5th August for 21 charter of demands.
The employees and Officers of the Indian oversees Bank. Andhra Bank, State Bank, Union Bank, United Bank, Regional Rural Banks, Cooperative Banks, and private public sector banks observed the strike. All the work in banks excluding ATM services in the town were effected as no bank employee joined the work. Mr.pradeep kumar Samantaray, General Secretary SBI AssociationZonal Secretary  Sadananda Panda, P.Venkata Rao Zonal Secretary, P.Haraprasad Rao President  SBI Officers Association, Somnath Misra, Regional Secretary SBI Officers Association, Jagannath Mishra and N.K.Santaroy IOB employees union leaders, C.S.Pal Regional Rural Bank employees union leaders spoke about their demands in a meeting organised by the striking bank employees. The agitating bank employees asked to close some Co-Operative banks like Koraput Central Cooperative Bank (KCC) which were functioning during the strike. On request KCC Bank officials closed the bank for which many consumers who came from far distance expressed their dissatisfaction and returned back . Such one Mrs Laxmi Harijan who came from village Jogiput to withdraw amount from KCC Bank said that she was about to draw money when the agitators came and asked to close the bank. She shown the withdrawal slip to press people.
