Exchange of fire between BSF and Maoists-Cache of Arms and ammunition recovered

Arms and ammunition recovered from naxalite hideout 
Jeypore August 26: A cache of arms and ammunition recovered from a naxalite hideout in Narayanapatna block on Wednesday. According to the DIG of Police South West Orissa, Mr Soumendra Priyadarshi, there was an exchange of fire between BSF jawans and Maoists in a forest near Kanchanpadu village under Kumbhar panchayat of Narayanapatna block on 24 August 2011.

He said that after a brief exchange of fire the Naxalites fled away from the spot leaving behind their arms, ammunition and several other things at their hideout. No causalities reported from either side. Police recovered one SLR riffle, one 9mm pistol, a flash gun, live rounds of ammunition, electronic detonators, several magazines, cloths, medicine, kit bags, food and utensils from naxalite hideout. Koraput SP Anup Kumar Sahu, BSF DIG S.K. Barua visited the spot and examined the seized items.
