Man gets 10 years RI for murder in fit of rage

Jeypore August 18: A man accused of murder has been sentenced to10 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of INR 5000 by Jeypore fast track court Additional District Judge S. Prabhakar Rao on Wednesday.
According to case file, on 13 July 2006 Amantosh Krishnamani Pani, Sanjay Pani, Rajesh Pani and Raj Kumar Pani of Devurli village under Kotpad Police station, allegedly cutting away the harvest crop from a agriculture field, which belongs to Mr. Ruben of Dampoor village. When Ruben, his son Joseph and wife Suryamani objected their moves they got into an altercation with them. Then in a fit of rage Raj Kumar hit Joseph with an axe on the head. Joseph died on the spot. Police registered a case and arrested the accused. After examining the witnesses Judge sentenced Raj Kumar Pani for 10 years RI and a fine of INR 5000. Additional Public Prosecutor Subash Chandra Panda prosecuted the case.
