Review on KBK Round table survey

Koraput. August.8: The round table review of  KBK (Koraput, Bolangir, Kalahandi) districts survey was organised at Tribal Museum in Koraput on last Sunday. The survey was coducted in the year 2010 covering 1461 families of 30 villages in 30 Gram Panchayatis under15 blocks of  KBK districts on public distribution system, health, education, midday meal, Mahatma Gandhi rural employment generating scheme.



It was revealed in the review that the 58 percent people are yet to get the job cards, out of 42 percent job card holders 90 percent were not even got 30 days work in a year. More than 72 percent people aren't aware of the scheme. 54 percent people in Koraput and 75 percent people in Kalahandi district suffering from malaria. It is also revealed that 97 percent people do not have sanitation facilities. 21 percent people don't have access to safe drinking water, they are depending on rivers and hill stream water. 


Only 20 percent of children studying up to 5 th standard, 3 percent up to 10th class and only 1 percent of children reaching up to graduation level. 89 percent students were covering in midday meal scheme. It is also revealed that 25 percent people don't have  ration cards in KBK districts. 80 percent beneficiary not getting rice properly and 81 percent people aren't satisfied with distribution system. Mr.Krishna Candhra Panigrahy Director Tribal Museum, Bidyut Mahanty  Secretary, U.Daniel and Ajit Patra NGOs proposed several suggestions for development of the KBK region.
