Navaratri celebrations begins with zeal in Jeypore

Jeypore. September 29: Navaratri (Nine Nights) celebrations started in Jeypore with with absolute devotion and bliss on Wednesday.

The nine day long festival dedicated to the goddess Durga symbolizes the triumph of good over evil. Navaratri is also know as Durga Puja. Navaratri represents celebrations of Goddess Durga, the manifestation of Deity in the form of Shakti (The Power), followed by Vijayadashami or Dusshera on tenth day. The celebrations was started in Bhagawati temple one week ago by litting "Akhanda Jyoti". On Wednesday Durga Pooja celebrations started in Jeypore with traditional fervor and great enthusiasm. Idols of Goddess Durga has been installed (Sthapana)  in various pooja mandaps across the town and with the Sthapana starts the nine days of prayers and fasting dedicated to the nine forms of Goddess of Power "Maa Kali". Thousands of devotees from in and around Jeypore started pouring in to offer prayers in various pooja mandaps.

Various forms of Goddess Durga idols are installed at the Durga pooja Mandap at Private Bus Stand. The details of 18 Shakti Peethas situated in the country along with Goddess portraits displayed at the pooja mandap which became the center of attraction.
