Guru Nanak's 543 birth anniversary celebrations in Jeypore 
Jeypore. November: 10: The birth anniversary of Guru Nanak, the founder and first Guru of the Sikhs, was celebrated with great enthusiasm in Jeypore on Thursday.
The birth anniversaries of 10 Sikh Gurus, known as Gurupurabs, which literally means the festival of Gurus, are an occasion for festive celebrations and prayers among Sikhs. Today the Sikh devotees of Jeypore celebrated 543 birth anniversary of first Guru with great zeal. Guru Nanak Dev was born at Nankan Sahib village in 1469 in the present Shekpura district of Pakistan. The Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee commenced with Keertans and Bhajans in the glory of Guru Nanak at Town Hall Road Gurudwara here. Hundreds of Sikh devotees joined the celebrations and paid their respect to the first guru.
