On request of the Odisha Telugu Samakhya Jeypore, Smt.Laxmi,  DCTO of Machilipatnam in Andhra Pradesh state contributed the Telugu textbooks at free of cost. The President and the committee members of Odisha Telugu Samakhya Jeypore, expressed their gratitude to her for helping the Telugu Students in Odisha who are  neglected by Odisha and Andhra Pradesh governments.
On the occasion the committee President Mr.V. Bhaskara Rao Reddy said that the Odisha government is adopting a step-motherly  attitude towards Telugu medium students in the state. He alleged that the state government officials aren't supplying the text books, study material and question papers to the Telugu medium students under  the "Sarva Siksha Abhiyan program", which is meant for promoting  education in mother tongue to achieve cent percent literacy in the country by supplying the test books and study materials at free of cost to all primary school students irrespective of language.
But in Jeypore and other parts of Orissa the Telugu medium students are deprived of education in mother tongue due to lack of text books and sufficient teaching staff. He has demanded to implement the 1986 memorandum of understanding (MoU), signed by the State Education Ministers of Orissa and Andhra for the betterment of linguistic minority education in both states. He also requested the donors from across the globe to help the Telugu medium students of Odisha with text books and study materials.
