Naxals burn mobile towers in Koraput district

Jeypore.December.3: Naxals set afire two mobile towers belongs to AIRTEL and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) in Koraput district on Friday.
This incident took place on the first day of Maoists Peoples Liberation Guerrilla Army(PLGA) 11th anniversary celebration week.

According to the sources Maoists set ablaze a BSNL tower at Mathapada village, under Boipariguda block on 2nd December. Similarly a AIRTEL tower was set on fire by the rebels at Kaliahatal village of Boiparigud block under Jeypore sub-division in Koraput district on early hours of Friday. Maoists pasted a poster at the place of incident stating that the People Army is fighting for the rights of people.

They urged people to observe the PLGA week celebrations and asked to support the proposed Bharat Bandh by them on 4th and 5th of this month to protest against the killing of their central committee top leader Kishenji in West Bengal. Similar posters also found in several places like Kundra, Onakadelli, Machkund, Laxmiput in Kotaput District.

Normal life hit in Naxal effected areas as Maoists are observing the PLGA foundation week from 2nd  to 8th December. State and private road transport bus services from Jeypore to Rayagada, Malkangiri districts and Naxal-prone areas in Koraput District were suspended.
