Bharat bandh hits normal life

Jeypore.June 1: The bandh called by opposition parties and ruling BJD party to protest against the steep hike in petrol prices today disrupted normal life in Koraput district.

BJD workers urged the people to close all the shops and business establishments in the district. The Orissa State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) suspended services and private vehicals kept off the road across the district. All the Government buses kept inside the OSRTC depot. All business establishments, shops, banks & insurance offices, petrol bunks, cinema halls, markets were closed today. 
In view of the bandh call police and district administration made elaborate security arrangements in the district particularly in Maoist effected places. Hundreds of passengers who came from Visakhapatnam, Bhubaneswar, Puri, Berhamput and other places in night buses stranded at Jeypore bush stand due to Bharat bandh and suffered a lot.
